5 tips for kissable lips

Every woman can agree that plump kissable lips are probably at the top of their must have list.

We all want to treat our lips right and protect our pout from ageing. Who wants those visible signs of ageing, like thinning lips, fine lines, loss of volume and drooping lips to mess with our right to wear that on trend shade of red lipstick? Not us!

And with that in mind we put our heads together and created our best tips for creating soft and supple kissable lips.

1. Lips need to be exfoliated, too.

Keep your lips smooth by buffing them with a warmed, damp washer. Move the cloth in a small circular motion.

For extra oomph, add sugar (yep, sugar!). The small granules will gently massage away old, dead skin cells and the many benefits of sugar will firm and refresh your lips.

Strangely, sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, a natural acid known for its ability to improve the skin’s appearance by removing the top layer of old, dead skin cells. As well as rejuvenating the skin, sugar is a natural humectant, which will draw moisture into the skin.

2. Get drinking.

Water that is. For luscious lips, being hydrated is key. With 50 – 80% of our body made of water, keeping up our fluid intake is essential for ensuring our skin – and that includes our lips – is nice and supple.

Over 2 litres a day is required to stay hydrated, but the exact amount varies person to person. Use this handy calculator to find out how much you should drinking each day.

3. Stop licking your lips!

Salvia is not meant for your lips.

Attempting to moisturise your lips with your saliva is simply ineffective, and actually has the opposite effect of removing any natural oil that exists on your lips. This is because our saliva works as a digestive tool, and naturally contains elements like acid, so it can do its job of breaking down food.

4. Stop reapplying your lip balm constantly.

If you are a habitual balmer, you are actually causing your lips more harm than good. The spattering of artificial ingredients in your lip balm is creating a moisture locking barrier that causes lips to become lazy, and unable to manage their own levels of hydration.

5. Visit The Skin Project for a skin consultation.

Get gorgeous fuller lips with non-surgical lip-plumping treatments from Sydney Cosmetic Clinic.

At The Skin Project we use dermal fillers to create beautiful, full lips that enhance your natural facial features.

Our experienced doctor, Dr Tom, can review your face and lips and offer you personalised advice on how to best achieve a gorgeous pout. At no obligation.

Our lips get thinner as we age, but luckily with the advances in cosmetic injections, anti-ageing solutions such as dermal fillers are a safe and relatively pain free way to gain a natural looking fuller lip that takes years off your appearance.

With dermal fillers, you can gain plumper lips and replace lost volume while adding more definition to your mouth, plus remove drooping corners and any vertical lip lines (also called smokers lines).

Our lip enhancement treatments are quick and relatively pain free, and with results lasting for up to 18 months, fillers don’t just provide long-term beauty solution, they also represent value for money.

And with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it is nice to know that having a kiss-me-now gorgeous pout is so simple to achieve.
