FAQs

Our Clients regularly ask questions about their chosen cosmetic enhancement before their skin treatment or during their initial consultation.

Here are some of the most frequent asked questions we receive at The Skin Project Clinic by Doctors.

We understand you may have other questions about what to do before your cosmetic procedure, or about the best post cosmetic treatment care, the cost of cosmetic treatments or about if a particular skin treatment is best for you.

Please read our questions and answers.

If you need more information about a particular cosmetic solution please feel free to contact us or give The Skin Project Clinic by Doctors a call on (02) 9929 0455 to review your question about cosmetic enhancement and provide you with the best possible advice for your specific needs.

Q. Does a doctor personally oversee all clients at all of The Skin Project Clinics?

Yes! Our experienced cosmetic doctor personally attends to all clients each of The Skin Project Clinic by Doctors. Whether you visit us at our North Sydney or Sydney CBD you can be assured that you are receiving first-rate personalised cosmetic treatment by a professional who is interested in helping you achieve your skin goals.

Q. What is the downtime after a cosmetics procedure?

The downtime is different for different cosmetic procedures.

After treatment with anti wrinkle injections, most clients are only left with a mild red area at the injection site, and this usually disappears within 15 minutes.

Most chemical peels and laser treatments leave the skin sensitive as a result of the removal of dead skin cells. Clients can expect their skin to appear red for a few hours following treatment, and for more intensive peels or laser treatments, clients may experience flaking for a few days after the procedure.

Skin will also be sun sensitive after skin peels, so we recommend wearing an SPF sunscreen for at least a week following a chemical peel or laser treatment and avoiding direct exposure to the sun for at least a week.

Q. How much does the treatment at a The Skin Project Clinic cost?

Because there is no one size fits all skin treatment, we can’t provide an accurate quote for a cosmetic procedure without first meeting a client and discussing their individual skin concerns and considering what treatment options are available for their skin type.

This is why at our cosmetic clinics we offer all clients an initial consultation and professional skin analysis, to review the various personalised cosmetic treatment and skincare options.

Q. How much do consultations cost?

We offer every client a consultation. These detailed consultations include an analysis of your skin, with the opportunity for you to confidently discuss skincare issues like acne and acne scarring, pigmentation, ageing concerns such as texture, wrinkles and fine lines, eye bags, capillaries and redness.

Find out more about what to expect in the consultation with our experienced, qualified cosmetic doctor.

Q. Are the cosmetics procedures safe?

At The Skin Project, all our procedures are performed by a trained and qualified cosmetic doctor.

Non-surgical cosmetic medicine does not require general anaesthetic and all procedures are relatively non-invasive. This means that cosmetic medicine is the safest form of beauty enhancement.

Q. How often do I need to have cosmetic treatment or injections done?

Different cosmetic treatments provide results that last for different amounts of time.

Chemical skin peels can be performed monthly, whereas anti wrinkle injections will normally slowly decrease in effectiveness or remove facial wrinkles for between 3-6 months. Dermal filler injections provide longer lasting results. These cosmetic injections tend to last for 12-18 months.

Q. What can I do to assist the healing process after my cosmetic treatment?

There are a few things clients can do to aid the healing process.

Applying ice packs after dermal fillers and laser treatments are recommended for reducing swelling and taking excess heat from the skin. Try to avoid taking anti inflammatory drugs for pain relief within the first 36 hours, as these can make bruising worse.

Q. Can I expose my face to the sun after laser treatment?

Laser treatments, chemical peels and dermarollers provide a glowing complexion by removing the layers of dead skin cells, and this cosmetic rejuvenation process makes then skin very sun sensitive. Depending on the strength of the cosmetic treatment, your skin could be sensitive for months.

For a mild treatment, you would expect sun sensitivity for a couple of days, while after a deep chemical skin peel treatment your skin may be sensitive for months.

After facial lasers and skin peels, it is very important to protect your skin and assist it to recover. As well as keeping out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, and always applying an SPF30+ sunscreen.

We will provide you with a more specific advice about after treatment care for your cosmetic treatment.
